Data Scientist / Statistician

Pinnacle Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Data Scientist / Statistician as an addition to our advanced analytics team located in Indianapolis, IN for a Full-time position, all On-site.

DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will perform data mining, forecasting, and various statistical analyses to analyze and interpret a diverse array of deliverables. Ability to apply statistics and business analytics skills to conduct studies and develop advanced analytical tools to aid in solving high-value business problems.

The ideal consultant MUST be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify value opportunities with company data.  Develop predictive and prescriptive systems to optimize operations and support strategic initiatives, using cutting-edge information technology and data science methods.  Design and deliver clear messages using the best visualization methods to support management decision making. 

The consultant will use a variety of tools to develop the analytical processes, including the SAS Intelligence Platform tools such as SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS/STAT, SAS/ETS, SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Forecast Server, SAS Visual Analytics and Statistics, and SAS Viya VDMML.  In addition, advanced development of applications on the Amazon Deep Learning Architecture including Amazon SageMaker and AWS DeepLens. The employee must have excellent communication skills and must be able to communicate about the techniques developed and results of analysis both to team members and other analysts in the organization. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL 

  • Minimum of 4 years’ prior professional experience (non-academic) in predictive modeling, statistical analytics, and data mining. 
  • Cross-Industry experience preferred, with the ability to support projects of greater than average size and complexity.
  • Ability to collaborate, and lead when necessary, with multiple teams and multiple clients with confidence.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to manage junior staff and further their professional growth.
  • Good written and spoken communications skills in English and thought-leadership skills. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES 

  • Proficiently utilize analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable business intelligence. 
  • Acquire business knowledge across the organization and utilize knowledge to devise meaningful analyses. 
  • Identify and acquire data pertinent to solving a business problem.
  • Develop components of predictive and prescriptive systems to optimize operations and support strategic initiatives. 
  • Apply data visualization tools to large datasets to enhance data understanding. 
  • Perform research to keep abreast of industry practices.
  • Consult with business unit partners to identify, prioritize, and develop actionable, insight providing analyses across a variety of core business areas. 
  • Utilize inquiry skills to obtain a clear understanding of business processes and needs. 
  • Work with stakeholders to determine value that additional information derived from proper analyses could provide. 
  • Collaborate with Information Technology partners to develop data acquisition and data management practices. 
  • Provide meaningful, concise reporting of analytic results. 
  • Develop concise meaningful written reports and provide an oral presentation of information. 
  • Develop reporting dashboards that meet business needs for status, trends, and variances. 
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to operationalize meaningful reports and dashboards.

 

EDUCATION

A minimum Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics or a related quantitative discipline.

WORK MODEL:   M-F, 40 hours per week, all On-site with less than 5% travel
